During the Middle School years, students are still involved in basic classroom music and art instruction. Choir programs continue throughout the Middle School years, with a few additional opportunities.
Harmony in Motion is a drama/worship/music group in which participation is by audition only. This group participates in a Spring tour and also leads Chapel worship each week. Those students excelling in drums, bass and guitar may also be asked to be part of the Chapel Worship Band.
Visual Arts is an important component of the Fine Arts Program at Joy Christian School. Beginning in Kindergarten, students are introduced to Core Knowledge integration with art projects that reflect what is being taught in the classroom.
DBAE (Disciplined-Based Art Education) is incorporated into lessons throughout Middle School and High School. This theory of training includes the study of art history, art aesthetics, art production and art appreciation. This method of instruction provides a connectedness and meaningful study of art, which allows for a strong knowledge base from which to build additional skills.
The Elements of Art and Principles of Design are taught as the foundation of everything done in K - 12 art education. Drawing, painting and sculpture are explored and reinforced in all the grades.
