High School - Principal's Message

Dear Prospective Student & Parent(s),

Thank you for your interest in Joy Christian School, a private, Christian school that is quickly becoming a leader in the northwest valley. Our school takes great pride in providing lifelong learning opportunities to young people and families from Pre-School through High School. Joy Christian School is a Lutheran school open to students of all religious backgrounds. Currently our student body of over 800 students (infants through 11th grade) represents 16 different religious traditions. Students come to us from a wide geographical area and diverse communities.

Joy Christian School was founded by Community Church of Joy in Glendale, Arizona as a mission to the community of Glendale and the Phoenix area. Experiencing rapid growth over the last few years, Joy has seen the need for a strong Christian high school in this area. The high school opened its doors in August of 2006 with a freshman class. We currently have freshmen, sophomores and juniors attending our high school. A senior class will be added in the 2008-09 school year.

At Joy Christian School, our first and foremost goal is to partner with parents and the home in preparing our students to successfully meet the challenges of today and tomorrow through the provision of superior academic and co-curricular programs founded in strong Christian values in the Lutheran tradition. Our school community is committed to the education of young people spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. The students' achievements and joy of learning is optimized and facilitated by supportive faculty, staff, administration, peers and parents and a challenging and exciting environment.

The faculty and staff at Joy Christian School are committed to a relational ministry with our students. Every student is seen as a child of God and is ministered to accordingly so that a relationship of trust may be established between the student and teacher. Joy Christian students experience a secure environment, safe in the hands of teachers directing them toward Godly moral values.

Joy Christian School values excellence in:

Christian Character Development. The Joy Christian community strives for excellence in Christian character where students demonstrate traits of respect, honor, integrity, and service.

Academics. Our Lord, in the parable of the talents, expressed a lesson to us that we should use the gifts that God has given us to the best of our ability. Joy Christian has a responsibility to help our students reach their full potential.

Co-Curricular Activities. Students are encouraged to become well rounded by participation in a number of co-curricular activities.

In our effort to build a new generation of Christian leaders, our high school's faculty and staff strive to identify and develop leadership skills in our students to prepare them for college and most importantly, for LIFE.

Our high school's administration, faculty and staff seek to admit bright and energetic students who are willing to contribute positively to the total school community. Candidates are considered on the basis of their academic and discipline record, school recommendations, a personal interview, and evident enthusiasm for the challenges and rewards available at Joy Christian School.

I invite you to continue visiting our website and to ultimately partnering with you in the development and nurturing of your son or daughter as he or she begins or continues their exciting high school years.

Educating for Eternity,

Jody Cecil
