Eagle Athletic Vision

The vision of Joy Christian Athletics is to instill values through competition which translates into developing student athletes that exhibit Integrity, Honor, Teamwork, Responsibility, and a Strong Work Ethic that honors Christ.


Fall Sports Offered:

Football, Cross-Country, Volleyball, Stunt/Pom and Golf

Head Football Coach: Patrick Blakesley has been coaching High School Football for the last two decades. Coach Blakesley’s primary focus has been the development of his players. He brings a Championship program based on strong Christian Values. Coach Blakesley was a quarterback in North Houston before moving on to play at the University of Mississippi.

Assistant Football Coach: Jeremie Collins comes to us with extensive football knowledge. Collins has coached at the high school level as assistant defense coordinator as well as offensive line and defensive line coach. Coach Collins was also a Defensive Scout Coordinator for Arizona Christian University.

Head Volleyball Coach: Jennifer Adams has 11 years experience coaching Volleyball at the Middle School and High School level. She has a Master’s Degree in Special Education and currently teaches Special Education at Trevor G. Browne High School.

Head Cross-Country Coach: Andrew Laue is in his 2nd year of coaching cross-country at Joy, he comes from Glendale High School where he was the Head Cross-Country Coach as well as the Distance Track and Field Coach. During his many years of coaching he has participated in several full and half marathons.

Head Golf Coach: Klent Corley has coached Golf at the High School level for the past 6 years. He enjoys teaching the game of Golf as well as the Integrity that follows. Coach Corley enjoys playing Golf in his spare time when he is not coaching.


Winter Sports Offered:

Boys/Girls Basketball, Soccer, Wrestling

Head Boys Basketball Coach: Geoff House coached at Arizona Christian University and had the privilege of taking the team on a missions trip to Europe with News Release Basketball. With News Release Basketball, Coach House was blessed to have used Basketball as a platform to share the love of Jesus to many. While Coaching in Europe Coach was offered an assistant coaching position with a professional team. Since returning to the states Coach House has had the opportunity to coach at the High School level.

Head Girls Basketball Coach: Trent May comes to Joy from Grand Canyon University where he was the Head Girls Basketball coach for the past 10 years. He brings with him extensive knowledge, as head coach at GCU he has compiled an impressive record of 195 wins which brings his career wins to over 300. Coach May has led his Girls towards becoming leaders in their communities, led fundraising efforts, and other service-based activities within the local and university communities.

Head Wrestling Coach: Mickey Nunez has extensive experience coaching Wrestling, he was a former ASU wrestler, Academic All-American, 2 time Collegiate National Qualifier, and named to the Jr. Olympic Team. Coach Nunez has coached at both the College and High School level.


Spring Sports Offered:

Baseball, Softball, Track and Field

Head Baseball Coach: Klent Corley has coached at Joy Christian for the past 5 years and has compiled an impressive 118-36 record during those 5 years. Coach Corley was drafted after High School to the Anaheim Angels, however he chose to further his Education while playing baseball at the University of Arizona, He played there for 2 years before transferring to GCU. While at GCU he was an all-conference pitcher. After GCU he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks and spent 3 years in the organization as a pitcher.

Assistant Baseball Coach: Josh Milner has coached at Joy Christian for the past 5 seasons as the catching coach. He has coached at the Middle School, High School and College level. While the Assistant Coach at Wayland Baptist the team had their best finish in program history.

Assistant Baseball Coach: Mark Flatten brings 20 years of baseball coaching experience to Joy. His background as a Major League Baseball Scout, Minor League baseball coach, Division 1 college assistant, and High School head coach will allow him to bring a vast knowledge of information and experience to the baseball program.

Head Softball Coach: Anna Zimmer is a second grade teacher and the Varsity Softball coach at Joy Christian. She has been coaching softball since 2011 and has coached both Freshmen and J.V. girls teams. This is Coach Zimmer’s second year as the Varsity Softball Coach at Joy. She has also been involved with softball programs and competitive travel teams for many years.

Head Track and Field Coach: Andrew Laue is in his 2nd year of coaching Track and Field at Joy He comes from Glendale High School where he was the Head Track and Field distance coach. During his many years of coaching Coach Laue has participated in several Full and Half Marathons
